In week 10 we were
very lucky to have a Duffy Hero’s Assembly. Husband and wife
team Mary Kippenberger. (
storyteller) and Peter
Charlton-Jones. (musician) had travelled up from Otane to tell us about
themselves, as well as rope us into some very hilarious role playing.
They were very eager
for some actors to help them out, and lucky for them we have a great range of
budding young actors in our school. Joedy, Tegan and Jack Karekare had us all
laughing with their amusing impersonations of the Huntsman, Little Red, and the
wolf (in Grandmas clothing). They also had a great selection of talent helping
them out when discussing the story of Henny Penny, including the acting skills
of Miss Grover and Whaea Eds!
Peter and Mary left
our school very impressed with how well our kids did and are certain they may
see some of them on stage in a few years time (maybe even on Shortland Street?)
We are also very thankful for all the books, which they presented to us. Know doubt
the kids will be reading up a storm, as Peter had told them the best way to get
an amazing imagination is to read.
