Welcome to Room 1's blog. We are a Year 4-8 class at Te Mahia School situated on the Mahia peninsula. This year looks to be bigger and brighter than ever. Our teachers are Miss Kereru each day until 12pm. Then Miss O'B from 12pm until home time. We are a dedicated bunch of learners who take risks daily and are not afraid of hard work. Check out our class blog to see how Room 1 roll.

Tairawhiti Museum Visit
On Monday we were very lucky to have some very talented visitors at the school. Aaron and Amber came to visit us from Tairawhiti Museum in Gisborne.
Room 1 spent their time translating the meanings behind kowhaiwhai patterns. We had the chance to view some beautiful work and then began creating our own kowhaiwhai patterns using our knowledge of the historic stories of Mahia. There were a lot of beautiful designs planned, and it was neat to see all our talented artists hard at work.
Miss O'B and myself cannot wait to see these patterns finished and hopefully up on panels so that they can be exhibited around the school.
